Originally included on Lawson's 2011 album of the same name, the song was re-released following his signing to Ed Sheeran's newly formed record label, Gingerbread Man Records. It peaked at number 3 on the Australian Singles Chart in 2015. "Ahead of Myself" was released as the second single from the album on 7 August 2015.
