The mambo king title is because this CD was issued to capitalize on the exposure that Desi received from "The Mambo Kings" movie in 1992. Ironically, Desi never recorded a mambo tune, as the style did not become popular in this country until the 1950s, by which time he was entirely busy doing I Love Lucy and running Desilu Productions.

To most of the public, Desi Arnaz is known as the lovable, temperamental Ricky Ricardo, husband of Lucille Ball in the 1950s (in real life and on screen) on one of the most successful television series of all time, I Love Lucy. Within the industry, he's known as one of the forces behind Desilu Productions.
