McCune–Reischauer. Chungsu. Park Chung Hee ( Korean : 박정희; November 14, 1917 – October 26, 1979) was a South Korean politician and army general. After seizing power in the May 16 coup of 1961, he was elected as the 3rd President of South Korea in 1963. He ruled the country from 1962 until his assassination in 1979.
