He also wrote the screenplays for Stay (2005), Brothers (2009) and X-Men Origins: Wolverine all of which were decent or good movies.
Benioff is the main culprit. Weiss is still to blame but he's more of an errand boy; Benioff at the computer typing random shit into Microsoft Word, Weiss giggling behind him, massaging Benioff's pasty shoulders and bringing him Starbucks. Bloody Starbucks . Reply reply. Parktar.
Jan 10, 2024 · The real reason Benioff & Weiss were fired was because they signed on to another contract with Netflix that created schedule conflicts with Disney so Disney decided to drop the contract. Just putting this out there so people aren’t misled into believing that Disney actually cares about audience reception.

Weiss and Benioff were good at adapting ASOIAF when they had a book to go off of, so I'm not too worried about them "destroying the source material" or anything of that sort. But the book is so fundamentally Chinese I can't imagine how it will be adapted for Western audiences.

TIL as the creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff & Dan Weiss, were "contractually guaranteed producer credits" on all GOT spinoffs, however they declined credits on House of the Dragon & the "free money" that came with it because they weren't involved with it & felt the strain wasn't worth it.
