August 19, 1906, Monteagudo Monastery, Navarra, Spain. Ezequiel, the son of Felix Moreno and Josefa D í az, joined the Augustinian Recollects at Monteagudo Monastery (Sept. 21, 1864) and pronounced his vows at Marcilla Monastery the following year.

After his priestly ordination in Manila, on the second day of June, 1871, (at the early age of 23 years), Padre Ecequiel set out some time later for Calapan, the capital of the island of Mindoro, where his elder brother, Eustaquio, had been assigned as temporary parish priest the year before.
