Welcome to the Joint Forces Staff College. JFSC educates national security professionals to plan and execute operational-level joint, multinational, and interagency operations, and instills in them a primary commitment to joint, multinational, and interagency teamwork, attitudes, and perspectives.
The Joint Forces Staff College (JFSC), located in Norfolk, Virginia, was established as the Armed Forces Staff College in 1946 and incorporated into the National Defense University in August 1981. It educates and acculturates joint and multinational warfighters to plan and lead at the operational level.
We instruct students on the integrated strategic deployment, employment, sustainment, and redeployment of joint forces, accomplishing our mission through simulations, exercises, and case studies in a joint seminar environment.
JFSC leverages a range of educational delivery methodologies, exercises and simulations, and an exceptionally experienced and talented faculty and staff, to ensure a continuous stream of skilled joint warfighters, strategic thinkers, and innovative problem solvers for the Joint Force.
Joint Forces Staff College The Joint Combined Warfighting School, or JCWS, is a 10 week course which conducts Phase II of Joint Professional Military Education. JCWS educates national security professionals to plan and execute joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational operations.
Joint Forces Staff College (Joint and Combined Warfighting School) environment and places the students in multiple roles and perspectives from which they must perform authentic activities they will find in follow on joint staff assignment. JCWS delivers via three delivery modalities:

Joint Forces Staff College (Joint Advanced Warfighting School) *Integrated Curriculum: TH and ST are completed in the Fall (17.1 contact hrs per week) and OP is conducted in the Spring (24 contact hrs per week); JS is integrated throughout Fall and Spring.
To accomplish the mission, JCWS delivers a rigorous and comprehensive Joint Professional Military Education curriculum incorporating the latest in joint operational concepts and joint lessons learned into classroom learning and exercise application.
