Por favor é uma expressão de cortesia usada quando se quer pedir algo a alguém. Neste caso o correto é por favor, deve-se utilizar a preposição por. O verbo que vier imediatamente à sua frente deverá estar no modo imperativo, usado para ordem, pedido, conselho ou apelo. O infinitivo pode ser usado no lugar do imperativo.
At most, "se faz favor" is slightly more formal than "por favor". More importantly, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking "um café, por favor." . The thing I'd say is true is that we usually prefer "se faz favor" over "por favor "when we're trying to catch someone's attention.

Por favor is a shortening of por hacer el favor, to do the favor. So not so much "in exchange for a favor" rather "do me a favor" My source for all this is etymonline.com which is a great resource.
Mar 13, 2022 · Maybe Pore Favor does have some effect, but not enough power on its own. I'm going to try using them in combination with a benzoyl peroxide face wash. The benzoyl peroxide face wash helps a little bit, so perhaps in combination with Pore Favor, my face will clear. We'll see.
Jan 15, 2023 · We tend to use «se faz favor» more often, regardless of formality level or whether it's in spoken/written language. Having said that, both options are grammatically valid. I tend to see «por favor» as having a more pleading hue, whereas «se faz favor» is more of a standard polite request.

Jan 11, 2016 · Estaria equivocado si dijera que "por favor" es mas comun en situaciones en las que alguien te esta rompiendo las pelotas? Ex. "Eh, eh, contame de anoche, que paso con la mina? Por favor, deja de hablar de esa" Obviamente no se puede escribir la inflexion pero se entiende.
Spanish tends to use "por favor" less frequently than "please" is used in English. There are other ways to be polite that make the use of "por favor" seem superfluous. But yes, it can be shortened to "por fa", although that's more an expression I would use with friends and family and not with strangers.
