“My friends and I” is grammatically correct when it is placed before the verb and is the subject of the sentence. “I and my friends” is also correct but less common as it is more polite to put your friends first.

The difference between "I and my friends" and "my friends and I" is purely a matter of courtesy - they are both grammatically correct. I would tend to stick to the latter though, as it a) is more commonplace, b) is considered more polite, c) seems to flow better.

Dec 25, 2023 · The Rule. Using “Me and my friends” or “My friends and I” correctly depends on whether the phrase is the subject or object of the sentence. When the phrase is the subject of the sentence, it should be “My friends and I.” For example, “My friends and I are going to the cinema.”
