Gerard Joseph Malanga (born March 20, 1943) is an American poet, photographer, filmmaker, actor, curator and archivist . Early life and education. Malanga was born in the Bronx in 1943, the only child of Italian immigrant parents.
A life-long poet, prolific photographer, filmmaker, archivist and Andy Warhol's assistant for seven years in the 1960s. Gerard is active with writing poetry, public speaking engagements, and creating special artistic projects. He lives in the Hudson Valley region.

Gerard is the author of over a dozen books of poetry spanning a 50-year period, including 2019’s “Cool and other things" (Bottle of Smoke Press).
Gerard Malanga worked closely for Andy Warhol during the artist’s most creative period, from 1963 to 1970. The New York Times referred to him as “Andy Warhol’s most important associate.” After being introduced by a friend, Warhol hired Gerard because of previous experiences in silkscreening.
