Desmond Ford (2 February 1929 – 11 March 2019) was an Australian theologian who studied evangelicalism. Within the Seventh-day Adventist Church he was a controversial figure. [ 1 ] He was dismissed from ministry in the Adventist church in 1980, following his critique of the church's investigative judgment teaching.

Desmond Ford was given a Bible at the age of 10. It changed the course of his life. He became fascinated by theology, and eventually, at the age of 18 joined the Seventh- day Adventist church, going on to study theology at the church’s Avondale College.
