Tom Sullivan is an American special effects artist and actor, known primarily for his work on Sam Raimi 's Evil Dead trilogy—comprising The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1992)—as well as The Fly II (1989).
Tom: I was fortunate to have a variety of effects and props and Art Direction (uncredited) contributions for Evil Dead. I created (and illustrated) the Book of the Dead and Kandarian Dagger, Full Sized Clay Animation Puppets, the Deadite masks and makeups.
Invaluable is the feature-length documentary film about Tom Sullivan, creator of the special make-up effects in “The Evil Dead”, “Evil Dead II”, and “Army of Darkness”.

Tom Sullivan, was in charge of the special make-up effects for the movie, and a legacy was born. Sullivan also worked on “Evil Dead 2”, “Army of Darkness” and “The Fly 2”, but his original work on the movie “The Evil Dead” is a testament to the art of special effects.

Oct 3, 2020 · Tom Sullivan: Sam gave me the script three weeks before shooting began. As the make up and special effects artist all I could think was, “shoot me now”. I had time to breakdown the script, figure out what effects and make up designs I needed, how I might do them and what supplies I would need.
