2000–2008: Beautiful Collision and Birds. Runga performing in Dublin in 2004. In 2000, Runga toured with Tim Finn and Dave Dobbyn, resulting in a release of a live album in November 2000, titled Together in Concert: Live. It peaked at number 2 on the New Zealand charts and has been certified 3× platinum.

The follow up in Beautiful Collision in 2002 was certified an incredible eleven times platinum and featured the hits Get Some Sleep, Something Good and Listening For The Weather. Beautiful Collision was followed by an album recorded live with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

Runga gained my attention after transforming styles into the sunny pop of her second album, Beautiful Collision. She enlisted a veritable who’s who of New Zealand music, including Dave Dobbyn, Neil Finn, Pluto’s Milan Borich, various members of Goldenhorse, and her sister Boh.
