The Gran Vía ( Spanish: [ˈɡɾam ˈbi.a], Great Way) is a street in central Madrid, Spain. It leads from Calle de Alcalá, close to Plaza de Cibeles, to Plaza de España. The street, sometimes referred to as the "Spanish Broadway ", is one of the city's most important shopping areas, with a large number of hotels and large movie theatres.
Gran Vía is one of the city's main arteries and one of its most iconic avenues, with a history dating back over a hundred years. It has undergone a vast renovation that has made it wider, greener and more pedestrian-friendly, and it hosts some of the city's best known landmarks.
The Gran Via is a long street lined with shops, restaurants and hotels. Many of the buildings are visually appealing, just beautiful designs and architecture. It is well worth a stroll.
