The Famous Players–Lasky Corporation was an American motion picture and distribution company formed on June 28, 1916, from the merger of Adolph Zukor's Famous Players Film Company – originally formed by Zukor as Famous Players in Famous Plays – and the Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company.
In 1916, the company merged with the Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company to form Famous Players–Lasky Corporation, which later became Paramount Pictures. [2]
Dec 12, 2013 · In 1916 the Lasky outfit merged with the Famous Players Film Company, founded by Adolph Zukor, as the Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, with Zukor as president and Lasky as vice-president in charge of production. Most of their films were distributed by the recently formed Paramount Pictures.
The new company Lasky and Zukor founded on June 28, Famous Players–Lasky Corporation, although it continued to use the name "Paramount," as well. As a result, it became the largest film company at the time with a value of US$ 12.5 million (equivalent to $241.8 million in 2023). [ 10 ]

The case Federal Trade Commission v. Famous Players-Lasky Corporation, et al resulted in a cease and desist order for block booking on July 9, 1927, as well as a demand for reform on Paramount theater purchasing.
During summer of 1922, Famous Players-Lasky begins to wind up it's UK operation and lays off many of it's staff — including the 22 year old Alma Reville. The hard-working Alfred Hitchcock survives the job cuts and continues to work at the Islington Studios, which are leased out to other filmmakers.
