Cyril Raker Endfield (November 10, 1914 – April 16, 1995) was an American film director, who at times also worked as a writer, theatre director, magician and inventor. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he worked in the New York theatre in the late 1930s before moving to Hollywood in 1940.
Cy Endfield was a director, writer and producer who made socially critical and stylish films in Hollywood and Britain. He was blacklisted by HUAC, fled to Britain, and directed Zulu (1964), a classic war epic.

Cy Endfield. Director: Zulu. The son of a struggling businessman, Cy Endfield--born Cyril Raker Endfield--worked hard to be admitted to Yale University in 1933. While completing his education he became enamored with progressive theatre and appeared in a New Haven production of a minor Russian play in 1934.
