As of 2020, there have been 23 animated films and 1 live action film. The first 19 animated films are based on the anime television series of the same name, with the original film being remade into the 22nd. The 20th, 21st and 23rd animated films are set in an alternate continuity to the anime.
- Kanto. The Kanto arc consists of two seasons and chronicles Ash’s adventures with his friends during their journeys through the Kanto region and the Orange Islands.
- Johto. The Johto arc saw Ash Ketchum and his friends leave Kanto after Ash’s defeat in the Pokémon League. Ash wanted to become even stronger, so he set out for another region, where he would meet and catch new Pokémon, as well as battle new trainers and become a better trainer himself.
- Hoenn. After his experiences in Johto, Ash and Pikachu left for Hoenn, the third region in the world of Pokémon. This time, he is accompanied by Brock, but not by Misty, who went back home after their Johto adventures; Ash and Brock are soon joined by May and her brother Max.
- Sinnoh. With the conclusion of the Hoenn arc, Ash, Brock and Pikachu headed for the Sinnoh region, where they were joined by Dawn, a young Pokémon Coordinator, who joined them on their journeys.

- 'Pokémon: The Movie 2000 – The Power of One' (2000) Release Date: July 21, 2000. Runtime: 84 Minutes. In this movie, the legendary Pokémon Lugia is the focus.
- 'Pokémon 3: The Movie – Spell of the Unown' (2001) Release Date: April 6, 2001. Runtime: 74 Minutes. A girl named Molly Hale is left alone after her father Professor Spencer Hale is sucked into the dimension of the Unown after doing research on it.
- 'Pokémon 4Ever: Celebi – Voice of the Forest' (2002) Release Date: October 11, 2002. Runtime: 80 Minutes. The Pokémon at the focus of the fourth Pokémon movie is Celebi, a Mythical Pokémon.
