Shoja Azari (Persian: شجاع آذری) is an Iranian-born visual artist and filmmaker based in New York City. He is known for his films and multimedia installations.

Shoja Azari was born in Shiraz, Iran, in 1958. He moved to New York City in 1983 and received an M.A. in Psychology from New York University. In 1997 he met artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat, and together they have created a body of work (short films, video installations, and a multimedia theater piece) that has been exhibited around the world.
In his disquieting work Idyllic Life, Shoja Azari builds on and plays against this precious art form. His starting point is a projected image of a vastly magnified sixteenth-century manuscript page depicting an arcadian setting of a princely palace and surrounding town.
