Joseph Ira Dassin [1] ( French: [dasɛ̃]; November 5, 1938 – August 20, 1980), known as Joe Dassin, was an American–French singer-songwriter and actor. In his career spanning sixteen years (1964–1980), he enjoyed numerous successes in France and the French-speaking world, as well as singing in languages other than French.
Joe Dassin was multilingual and sang in German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, French, and English. This helped to increase his marketability on a global scale. His first studio album, Joe Dassin a New York , was released in 1966, and includes a notable cover version of “Guantanamera.”

Joe Dassin, known as the most French of the Americans, was born in New York in 1938 and died in 1980 from a heart attack in Papeete, French Polynesia. He was the son of the American film director Jules Dassin . Throughout his career, he recorded approximately 250 songs and sold over 50 million albums worldwide.

Joe Dassin, as his world-known French countryman Johnny Hallyday, topped the music stage and was popular for velvet voicing, different languages singing, festive atmosphere creating etc. The album Les Champs-Elysees hasn't an excellent score, but you can find something personal among its songs!
