Dame Vivienne Isabel Westwood DBE RDI (née Swire; 8 April 1941 – 29 December 2022) was a British fashion designer and businesswoman, largely responsible for bringing modern punk and new wave fashions into the mainstream.

Dec 31, 2022 · Vivienne Westwood, the British fashion icon instrumental in shaping the punk and new wave movements of the 70s and ’80s, died on Dec 29 at the age of 81. Tributes have been pouring in from fellow designers, cultural figures and fashion industry insiders – with many posting their messages on social media.
Vivienne began by designing and making Teddy Boy clothes for Malcolm and in 1971 they opened a small boutique called Let it Rock at number 430 Kings Road, Chelsea in London. A year later, Vivienne’s interests had turned to biker clothing, zips, and leather.
