Michelle Purple is an American producer. She currently executive produces the hit series Cruel Summer through her production company Iron Oceans Production.
Career
Michelle Purple formed Iron Ocean Productions with Jessica Biel with the mission to create original content and a platform that enhances strong female voices. As, Michelle Glass, she began her career with DreamWorks/Amblin Entertainment in 1996, where for three years she learned the ropes of motion picture productions working for Steven Spielberg. Producer, Suzanne Todd, then enlisted to work at Team Todd during which the company produced such films as Boiler Room, Memento, Idle Hands and HBO's If These Walls Could Talk. She then ran director Rob Cohen's company collaborating on such hits as The Fast and the Furious, XXX and serving as Associate Producer on Cohen's Stealth.

Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple formed Iron Ocean Productions with the mission to create original content and a platform that enhances strong female voices. Currently, the production company has USA’s limited TV series “The Sinner,” which has enjoyed three seasons resulting in multiple awards nominations. In 2020, the series was renewed for a fourth season with the network, which is expected to go into production this spring. Season one garnered Biel Emmy®, Golden Globe® and Critic’s Choice award nominations for best actress and nominations for both Purple and Biel as series executive producers, with Bill Pullman nominated for a SAG award for his performance in season two. In 2020, the production company inked a two-year first-look deal with Paramount Television Studios. The deal covers scripted television projects. Prior to this, the shingle had Facebook Watch’s “Limetown” in which Biel starred opposite Stanley Tucci. The show premiered in Fall 2019 to over 10 million viewers in the first 72 hours. “Cruel Summer,” which returns for its highly anticipated second season, marked the highest-ever debut for a Freeform network series. Season one stars Olivia Holt and Chiara Aurelia received HCA nominations for their performances, and Aurelia also received a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
