Jan 12, 2007 · Despite the obvious echoes of Roy Brown, Billy Wright, etc., you can hear a joyful tenor singing circles around any "influences", and on "Little Richard's Boogie" you can hear a funky piano leaving the other instrumentalists breathless.
By dishing out swinging rhythm & blues infused with a New Orleans kick, Little Richard was laying the ground for a much rowdier, edgier manifestation that would eventually envelop him and the entire nation in a defiant and recklessly joyous catharsis called rock & roll.
