One of these tours is to visit the Floriano Peixoto Square, known as Cinelândia by the Cariocas, located in the city center.
Get off at the Cinelandia Metro stop and wander around this old historical district. We felt safe with all the people but not sure how the atmosphere is otherwise. Read more

The event responsible for broadening opposition to the military dictatorship was the regime’s murder of student Edson Luís Lima Souto, originally from the northern state of Pará.
