For the production of Czech pictures, Barrandov Film Studios implemented the American model and created several genre-specific production groups. The studios employed their own screenwriters. The acting division employed only the best actors and registered hundreds of extras.

Barrandov Studio is one of the largest and oldest film studios in Europe. For more than eighty-five years, the studios have been the location of choice for over 5,000 Czech and International films. Barrandov Studio boasts nine soundstages on Barrandov hill and four more in a nearby district of Hostivař.
Barrandov Film Studios: Little Hollywood. The Barrandov neighbourhood consists of Old Barandov and New Barrandov. Built in the 1930s, Old Barrandov includes the villa district, Barrandov Terraces and Barrandov Studios. New Barrandov, built in the 1980s, is located west of the old part.
