Kuntao or kuntau (Chinese: 拳道; pinyin: quándào; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: kûn-thâu, Tagalog: kuntaw) is a Hokkien term for the martial arts of the Chinese community of Southeast Asia, specifically the Malay Archipelago.

Kuntao is a southeast Asian martial arts that utilizes hand strikes, kicking techniques, grappling and martial arts weapons (i.e. sword, staff and spear). Kuntao means the “way of the fist”.
Kuntao (sometimes spelled Kuntaw, Kuntau, Kun Tao, even Kuen Tao among a few other ways in SE Asia, is an ancient Filipino warrior system considered to be indigenous to the Philippines that consists of a very vicious approach to engaging in a conflict.
By signifying the term as Filipino KunTao, it is understood that this form of fighting art is based on the Filipino methods of fighting, and not the Kun Tao from China. Filipino KunTao is a non-formulaic system of self-defense that utilizes the attacker's attack against them.
