synopsis. During the last few years of Communism in Bulgaria, a theatre actor, Alexander Petrov, is prohibited from acting for unknown reasons. After the fall of the regime, when he reappears on stage, he realises he was betrayed by the person he most admired, his mentor and friend.

Markov persuades Petrov to enter politics and become leader of a new party. But the freedom offered by democracy is deceptive. The old system lives on within the new one.
Now, in the mid-1990s, the country is wracked by unretstrained capitalism, along with violence and gang wars. Markov, an admirer of Petrov’s stage talents, offers to make him the leader of a new political party aiming at rescuing the country. Can this work? Is Markov the right man to be allied with? Petrov must make a fateful decision.
