Curse of Snakes Valley (Polish: Klątwa doliny węży) is a 1988 Polish-Soviet adventure science fiction horror film directed by Marek Piestrak. The screenplay is loosely based on the Robert Stratton short story The Hobby of Dr. Traven, which was published by the end of 1970s in the Polish magazine Przekrój.

For one of them, I chose Stanisław Lem’s short story Interrogation ( Śledztwo , 1973), which is a horror story set in London.
Life under the communist regime was not easy, so unsurprisingly, audiences – both in the Soviet Union and in Poland at the time – preferred to watch comedies. There was enough fear and danger in everyday life. Yet, some filmmakers in Poland dabbled in horror movies all the same.
