Lawrence Jemal is an entrepreneur, businessman and real estate investor. He is the founder and chairman of ICER Brands and ICER Properties and also founded the renowned electronics retail chain Nobody Beats the Wiz in 1976 which they later sold to Cablevision in 1998.
His first foray into retail began in the 1960s, when he and his younger brother Lawrence Jemal, opened a store called Bargaintown in Washington, D.C., and soon after, a discount electronics store.
The chain was founded by four brothers, Stephan, Lawrence, Marvin, and Douglas Jemal, in New York City in 1977. Later, it officially changed its name to its well-known advertising slogan, "Nobody Beats The Wiz."
