Jun 16, 2002 · After two decades as Soul Asylum’s frontman, Dave Pirner has recorded his first solo CD. He began working on "Faces and Names" after moving to New Orleans, and the recording finds Pirner singing personal songs against a musical backdrop influenced by the city’s signature sounds.

Dec 14, 2014 · Dave Pirner. A 1993 interview includes Chris saying that Dave asked Chris to give him guitar lessons, so we know their relationship dates at least that far back. In 1996, Dave joined Chris and Warren Zevon on “Powder Keg” for a Rainer Ptacek tribute album (more info here).
Co-produced by Dave Pirner of Soul Asylum, The Sun Highway is a promising but underdeveloped debut that frequently obscures great lyrics and intriguing ideas (the jazz horns and folk forays, f’rinstance) in an amorphous blur of loose’n’noisy post-punk.
