Gian-Carlo Coppola (September 17, 1963 – May 26, 1986) was an American film producer and actor. He was the oldest child of set decorator/artist Eleanor Coppola (née Neil) and film director Francis Ford Coppola, and brother to screenwriter/producer Roman Coppola and director Sofia Coppola.
Francis Ford Coppola regrets making Gardens of Stone, a film that cost him his son Gian Carlo, who died in a boating accident in 1986. Gian Carlo was a camera operator on the film and his death inspired The Godfather III plot.

Gian-Carlo Coppola was an American film producer. Coppola worked closely with his father, Francis Ford Coppola, on many of the latter’s award-winning movies. He played a minor role in his father’s 1972 crime film ‘The Godfather,’ which won three ‘Oscars’ at the 45th ‘Academy Awards.’
