John Bromfield (1922-2005) was a "B"-level leading man in sci-fi, western and melodrama films in the 1950s. He also played the title role in the TV series The Sheriff of Cochise and retired from acting in 1960 to become a commercial fisherman.

John Bromfield, the jut-jawed actor best known as a contemporary Western lawman in the 1950s television series “The Sheriff of Cochise” and “U.S. Marshal,” died Sunday. He was 83.
John Bromfield is a nearly forgotten name these days (except, surely, in Japan!) and his legacy of film work is limited. To those in the know, though, he was a beefy, hunky, handsome presence in several movies and an amiable performer both in those and on his TV series.
