Paul Edwin Bielenberg Sorensen (16 December 1891 – 12 September 1983) was a Danish-born Australian landscape gardener and nurseryman. After leaving Europe due to the outbreak of the First World War, Sorensen lived in Australia for the rest of his life, mostly in the Blue Mountains.
The current landscape was developed in 1934, when owner Belgian-born businessman, Henri Van de Velde, hired Paul Sorensen, Australia’s ‘Master Gardener’, to design a garden on five hectares of steeply sloping orchard in Leura.
