Maria Antonieta Pons (November 6, 1922 – August 20, 2004) was a Cuban-born Mexican film actress and dancer. She was the first actress in the Rumberas films in the 1940s and 1950s, in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. The Rumberas film genre offered a societal perspective on Mexico during the 40s-50s.
María Antonieta Pons y Morales (La Habana, 11 de junio de 1922-Ciudad de México, 21 de agosto de 2004) fue una rumbera y actriz cubanomexicana. María Antonieta fue descubierta en Cuba en 1938 por el cineasta de origen español Juan Orol, quién decide lanzarla como actriz de cine en México.
María Antonieta Pons was born on 11 June 1922 in Havana, Cuba. She was an actress, known for Teatro del crimen (1957), La vida íntima de Marco Antonio y Cleopatra (1947) and Embrujo antillano (1946). She was married to Ramón Pereda and Juan Orol. She died on 20 August 2004 in Mexico City, Mexico.
