An Italian actress who began her career as a model, Martinelli got her Hollywood break after being spotted by Kirk Douglas’ wife, Anne Buydens, and was cast in The Indian Fighter (1955). She was best known for her role opposite John Wayne as a wildlife photographer in Howard Hawks’ Hatari!
