María de la Asunción Mercader Forcada ( Spanish: [maˈɾi.a meɾkaˈðeɾ]; Catalan: Maria de l'Assumpció Mercader i Forcada [məˈɾi.ə məɾkəˈðe]; 6 March 1918 – 26 January 2011) was a Spanish film actress who appeared in some forty films between 1923 and 1992.
María Mercader was born on 6 March 1918 in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. She was an actress, known for The House of Smiles (1991), The Mysterious Rider (1948) and Savannah Bay (1990). She was married to Vittorio De Sica. She died on 26 January 2011 in Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Mercader was born on November 28, 1965, in New York City to Manuel and Gladys Mercader. She studied at Dominican Academy, then at the College of New Rochelle, where she graduated in 1987.
Mercader started working for CBS News in 1987 as a page in the company's page program, then began her news career at CBS Newspath, where she produced pieces for distribution at CBS' affiliates. For over two decades before her death, Mercader had numerous illnesses, including cancer. In the last week of February 2020, she took medical leave, then died from the COVID-19 pandemicat a New York hospital on March 29, 2020.
