Floella Karen Yunies Benjamin, Baroness Benjamin, OM, DBE, DL [1] (born 23 September 1949 [2]) is a Trinidadian-British actress, singer, presenter, author and politician. She is known as presenter of children's programmes such as Play School, Play Away, Jamboree and Fast Forward.
Biography – Floella Benjamin. I was born on the Caribbean island of Trinidad, in a a small town called Pointe-a-Pierre on the 23rd September 1949. My first memory of that wonderful sun drenched Caribbean island was when I was three years old and I treasure those memories.

Floella has written over 30 children’s books including, ‘Skip Across the Ocean’, ‘My Two Grannies’, ‘For Goodness Sake’ a guide to choosing right from wrong for children and young people, plus a definitive guide to Caribbean Cookery. Her first novel, ‘Sea of Tears’ was published in 2012.

Floella Benjamin. Actress: Rendition. One of the most famous presenters of Play School (1964) she has recently devoted her life to charity work. As well as sitting on the Board of Governors of Britain's National Film & Television School, she was awarded the OBE by the Queen for services to broadcasting and charity in 2001.
