Biography. Born in the UK, Jonathan Isgar's family moved to Australia when he was very young and he now has Australian citizenship. He was backpacking in Hong Kong when he was offered roles in films.
During the very busy end of the 1980s and the early 1990s, the Hong Kong film industry used a regular stable of western actors to appear in their productions -- the gweilos. Among them, Jonathan Isgar managed to get some of the biggest part possible.

Jonathan Isgar: Once upon a Time in China was a joy to be part of; Mr. Hark built beautiful sets, choreographed beautiful scenes, told a good story, was respectful and paid. Operation Condor was a mess, Jackie did well to pull anything out of that.
Born in Australia, Jonathan Isgar was backpacking in Hong Kong when he was offered roles in films. He had a background in gymnastics, but trained with friends and fellow actors Bruce Fontaine, Ken Goodman, and Mark Houghton in martial arts.
