Stefan Frei (born 20 April 1986) is a Swiss professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Seattle Sounders FC. Born in Switzerland, Frei moved with his family to the United States as a teenager.
Dec 5, 2023 · The Seattle Sounders announced on Tuesday that longtime goalkeeper Stefan Frei has been signed to a new two-year contract, keeping him with the Rave Green through the 2025 season.
Frei’s 44 wins over the past two seasons lead all MLS goalkeepers. In the postseason, Frei started all three matches for a 2-1-0 record, recording 14 saves and posting a 1.50 GAA. Frei now ranks second in Sounders FC history with career marks of 34 wins, 210 saves and 19 shutouts for the club.
