Jun 26, 2024 · Tirunesh Dibaba (born June 1, 1985, near Bekoji, Arsi province, Ethiopia) is an Ethiopian distance runner who at the 2008 Beijing Olympics became the first woman to win gold in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races.
Ethiopia’s Tirunesh Dibada is the youngest female world champion in the history of athletics, the first woman to achieve the Olympic 5,000m/10,000m double, and the first to successfully defend a long-distance title at the Games.
Aug 12, 2013 · The Ethiopian distance runner won the 10,000m title in Moscow in 2013, adding to her previous Olympic and World Championships victories. She also competed in the 5000m, where she was expected to face her rival Meseret Defar, but the federation decided to share the medals among the athletes.
