Johannes Peter " Honus " Wagner ( / ˈhɒnəs ˈwæɡnər / HON-əs WAG-nər; February 24, 1874 [1] – December 6, 1955 [2] ), was an American baseball shortstop who played 21 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1897 to 1917, almost entirely for the Pittsburgh Pirates. [3] .
Honus Wagner was a Hall of Fame shortstop, rightfielder and first baseman who played for the Louisville Colonels and Pittsburgh Pirates from 1897 to 1917. He won eight batting titles, eight World Series and had a career batting average of .328.
