Stella Dorothea Gibbons, novelist, poet and short-story writer, was born in London in 1902. She went to the North London Collegiate School and studied journalism at University College, London. She then worked for ten years on various papers, including the Evening Standard.
Gerda, a little girl who is taken prisoner by the Elves and kept in a cave with an old gnome, is rescued by the princess of the fairies. Beige cloth, red titles and illustration to front cover. 180 pages.
I've read and collected many other of her novels (including "The Untidy Gnome" which is the crown jewel of my otherwise uninteresting book collection), many of which until the last year or two were out of print.
