iO, or iO Chicago, (formerly known as "ImprovOlympic") is an improv theater and training center in central Chicago, with a former branch in Los Angeles, called iO West and in Raleigh, North Carolina called iO South.
iO Theater is the home of long form improv since 1981, where you can see shows, learn classes, and join the community. Founded by Charna Halpern, Del Close, and David Shepard, iO Theater has inspired and trained generations of America’s greatest comedic talents.
Located in the heart of Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, the iO Theater features 40 shows/week, Wednesday-Sunday with, 2 bars, an in-house restaurant, outdoor beer garden, and large event space. Duration: 2-3 hours.
