Edwin Janss Gregson (August 7, 1938 – June 4, 2000) [1] was an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer. He was the trainer of Gato Del Sol who won the 1982 Kentucky Derby . He died on June 4, 2000, of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. [2] .

During the past year, the Foundation made a commitment to increase industry involvement by expanding its Board of Directors to include non-trainer members who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for backstretch workers and their family members.
In 2000, the Foundation was renamed in memory of veteran trainer and past CTT president Edwin J. Gregson, who was the initial driving force in the establishment of the Foundation.
