Born in North Carolina of South African descent, Ms. Lilford has lived in Uganda, Botswana, South Africa, and Trinidad before settling in Mount Vernon with her family in 2016, where she attended Brewton-Parker College as a dual enrollment student. She presently resides in Mount Vernon with her family and spends her free time watching old TV shows.
This campus has been significant in both girls' education in DC and Naval history nationwide. The 38.6-acre Mount Vernon Seminary for Girls campus includes 16 buildings, generally brick with Georgian Revival or simple Colonial Revival detailing.
Mount Vernon Campus is part of the George Washington University and offers a variety of academic, residential and social amenities and services for students. It was formerly the home of the Mount Vernon Seminary and College, a private women’s high school and college founded in 1868 by Elizabeth J. Somers.
