The Eastman School of Music is the music school of the University of Rochester, a private research university in Rochester, New York, United States. It was established in 1921 by industrialist and philanthropist George Eastman.
For a century, the Eastman School of Music has been one of the professional schools of the University of Rochester. Our faculty and students are devoted to the pursuit of the highest level of musical artistry. For 100 years, Eastman has celebrated four key pillars: artistry, scholarship, leadership and community.
Ranked No. 3 in North America and No. 11 globally, Eastman shares the stage with leading music institutions in the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, Finland, Denmark, and Hungary. For over a century, the Eastman School of Music has been a beacon of excellence in music education and performance.
Students applying for a bachelor of music degree will apply directly to the Eastman School of Music through their online application. Students applying for a dual degree (BM plus a BA or BS), will also need to submit an application to the College at the University of Rochester.
Eastman School of Music, conservatory of music in Rochester, N.Y., U.S. Founded in 1913, the D.K.G. School of Musical Art (so named for Messrs. Dossenbach, Klingenberg, and Gareissen, the three directors of the institute) was soon after purchased by George Eastman, who donated it to the University.
