- Swedish car brands. Swedish car brands have varying degrees of market share. Some brands like Volvo are giants, while others like Uniti and Caresto are more niched to a selected audience.
- Volvo. Volvo is one of the most renowned Swedish car brands. The company, founded in 1927 by Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson, has been making Swedish cars since then and has become synonymous with safe vehicles—especially during the winter months when Swedes tend to drive a lot more than they do during other seasons.
- Lynk & Co. Lynk & Co is one of the freshest Swedish car brands to date. It was founded in 2016 and is now owned by Geely Automotive Holdings, a Chinese automotive company.
- Polestar. Polestar is a performance brand of Volvo that was founded in 1996 and based in Gothenburg, Sweden. The first car released by Polestar was the Polestar 1, which was made available for pre-order with deliveries beginning in 2019.
- Volvo. Long the purveyor of super-reliable, safety-first saloons and estates with styling resembling the average house brick, Volvo has reinvented itself as the very epitome of Scandi-cool.
- Polestar. Spun off from Volvo, and once the name of the company's racing and tuning arm, Polestar specialises in super-slick, design-led electric cars with the aim of carbon neutral manufacture.
- Lynk & Co. Sounds like a jewellery brand, founded in Gothenburg in 2016 as newest, fashion-led Swedish car brand, with major Geely involvement. Sales are mostly in China, with some European countries added to internet-only buying model for blinged-up SUVs and crossovers, such as Lynk & Co 01.
- Koenigsegg. Crazy name, crazier cars. For a remarkable 28 years, Koenigsegg have hand-produced a variety of highly distinctive supercars and won a dedicated worldwide fanbase far beyond the tiny production numbers.
The automotive industry in Sweden is mainly associated with passenger car manufacturers Volvo Cars and Saab Automobile but Sweden is also home of two of the largest truck manufacturers in the world: AB Volvo and Scania AB.
