Most of the Caribbean countries are islands are in the Caribbean Sea, with only a few in inland lakes. The largest islands include Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Some of the smaller islands are referred to as a rock or reef. Islands are listed in alphabetical order by sovereign state.
- British Virgin Islands. The British Virgin Islands are hands-down one of the best places to visit in the Caribbean. - Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. The third largest of the British Virgin Islands, Virgin Gorda is known for its pristine beaches, history, nature sanctuaries, and the Baths — pools and seawater grottos formed by huge granite boulders.
- St. Lucia. This volcanic island is known for its beaches, rain forests, turquoise waters, and the beautiful Piton mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
