Talking Tom: The Movie is an upcoming CGI live-action hybrid buddy comedy film based on the Talking Tom & Friends franchise.
Not much is known about the film's plot. In December 2014, a Talking Tom and Friends movie was announced to have greenlit and would be produced by a company called Mythology Entertainment. The movie would be executive-produced by Samo Login, the founder and CEO at the time of Outfit7. The founders of Mythology Entertainment, Brad Fischer, James Vanderbilt, and William Sherak would also be assisting on the film. Samo Login claimed the film "added a whole new level of excitement and momentum for their brands", and that it will "enable fans of all ages to connect with our characters in a new way". He also claimed that Brad Fisher and his team "recognize the fun, loveable and powerful force of Talking Tom and Friends", and that they'd be bringing an exciting film. The project would not be heard of again until 2018.
In a 2018 interview, the film was once again announced to be coming. The movie would be produced by Julien Baronnet, founder of Marla Studios, who had previously worked on the likes of Rabbids Invasion, and would instead be a live-action animated hybrid. Outfit7's then chief producer claimed that the film was "the logical next step for Tom", and Baronnet claimed that the Talking Tom movie will be a "high-content, hybrid family film", featuring both "digital characters and real-life actors", and that it will "touch on all of the important themes that have become synonymous with the Talking Tom brand: tolerance, adventure, humor, and of course, friendship.” In 2021, the film was once again mentioned under the title "Talking Tom", and is still being produced by Marla Studios, with Bianca Salvator producing, alongside Raja Gosnell writing and Stephanie Sanditz directing the film. The movie is described as a "CGI live-action hybrid buddy comedy in vein of Sonic the Hedgehog and Ted." In 2023, the movie was mentioned as still in development, with the Chinese Talking Tom semi-annual board management review saying "The company has continued to promote the work related to the "Talking Tom and Friends" movie, completed the secondary creation of the script, and started to negotiate with a number of globally renowned Hollywood studios for cooperation."
