Oct 24, 2014 · The first English-language film from Norwegian director Eric Poppe is a conscientious and beautifully shot movie that ultimately bogs down in its own disinclination to come to any kind of dramatically useful conclusion about its subject. Said subject is Rebecca.
Original title: Tusen ganger god natt (A Thousand Times Goodnight) (1,000 Times Good Night). Synopsis: Rebecca is one of the world's top war photographers. On assignment while photographing a female suicide bomber group, she gets too near and is badly hurt in an explosion.
Despite Binoche's mighty efforts, 1,000 Times Good Night never recovers from its self-congratulatory ambitions and mechanical plotting. It's the movie that winds up shell-shocked.
