Jun 16, 2024 · A tidal wave is a shallow water wave caused by the gravitational interactions between the Sun, Moon, and Earth. The term “tidal wave” is often used to refer to tsunamis; however, this reference is incorrect as tsunamis have nothing to do with tides.
A tidal bore, which is a large movement of water formed by the funnelling of the incoming tide into a river or narrow bay. A storm surge, or tidal surge, which can cause waves that breach flood defences.
