Ayla: The Daughter of War (Turkish: Ayla; Korean: 아일라) is a 2017 South Korean-Turkish drama film directed by Can Ulkay. It was selected as the Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
Nov 29, 2022 · Sergeant Süleyman finds a little girl on a battlefield during the Korean War. He takes her under his wing and names her Ayla. Fifteen months later, Süleyman's brigade is told they will be returning to Turkey, and he is reluctant to leave her behind.
During the Korean War, a young girl is saved by Süleyman, a sergeant in the Turkish Brigade who gives her the nickname Ayla. The two form a friendship despite the language barrier between them...
